Ten Ways to Afford to Come to PTP
Budgets are tight in many homes right now. How can an individual or family afford to come to PTP?
1. Stay at an off site hotel (save up to $300). There are hundreds of hotel rooms within a couple miles of the Events Center. PTP blocks rooms at several hotels at a rate of only $50. By staying at off site one may save enough to pay the registration fee (about $300 over six nights including tax).
2. Stay at an off site cabin (save up to $492). Combine resources with extended family members or close friends and rent a cabin. These are very affordable and can add to the fellowship you enjoy while on the trip. One place (Sanctuary Villas) is only a half mile from Events Center and can be rented for as low as $17 per night with a group of 16. Large and small villas available so smaller groups can also get good rates. Stay three nights get the fourth night free. This special PTP rate is 30% off their normal rates. An internet search will bring up a variety of other cabins nearby that can be rented very inexpensively.
3. Eat in room ($100-200). Depending on the number in your party, you can save as much as $200 over the week (family of 4 eating cereal or sandwiches for ten meals could save about $200). Check with your hotel as they may have a free breakfast. We have to pay for food at home anyway, so it costs no more to be at PTP if one eats in the room. Take advantage of fellowship meals to save a bit more.
4. Use coupons ($25-50). Check with the "welcome centers" upon your arrival for a variety of coupons that make local eateries a little more affordable. Start using coupons to purchase groceries at home and save as much as $1300 between one PTP and the next ($25 a week).
5. Come for the weekend instead of the whole week ($125/each). There are more sessions on the weekend than in a full week gospel meeting. This year's weekend schedule is expanded to 155 sessions.
6. Make PTP your family vacation. Since PTP is in a very beautiful place with varied opportunities for fun, relaxation, and diversion, a large
contingency of PTP attendees use the money they normally set aside for an annual vacation to come to PTP and grow spiritually while taking some family time in the mountains.
7. Ask your congregation to sponsor you to come to PTP. Many congregations pay the way for its elders, preachers, youth members, and deacons to attend. Other churches do not pay expenses but at least cover the fee.
8. Start saving months in advance. Most can cut out $10-20 per week in discretionary spending (eating out, Walmart costs, eating less meat or more leftovers, etc). Saving $15 per week will amount to $780 from in the 52 weeks leading up to PTP.
9. Pray for God to make it possible.
10. Send one family member instead of the whole family. It is best to go together, but if that is not possible, one family member can grow and bring much of PTP back home.
